Dixons Carphone, the parent company of Carphone Warehouse, and one of the largest mobile phone retailers in the UK & Ireland is launching a mobile network this summer. The network will operate as an MVNO on Three's infrastructure, along with another offering from UPC later this year.
Called "iD", the network stands poised to fill the gaps in current network offerings. iD promises to provide "greater flexibility and individuality to Irish customers" compared to the current offerings from Irish networks. The name follows Carphones network offering in the UK, that launched in May of this year.
iD will offer "greater flexibility and individuality to Irish customers".
With senior management confident that Irish mobile customers are willing to switch, if iD is able to capitalise on this appetite to switch for greater value, the network could be onto a real winner.
A launch is expected over the coming weeks. As competition amongst mobile networks increases, it will be interesting to see what plan offerings iD will bring to the Irish market.
Managing director of Dixons Carphone Ireland Mark Slater said the launch was a key milestone and significant investment for Dixons Carphone in Ireland.
